Public meeting on Northern Ireland Office and Secretary of State Consultation on ‘Addressing the Legacy of Northern Ireland's Past’

The NIO and Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for NI have published “A consultation that gives everyone a chance to have their say on the best way to address the legacy of Northern Ireland's troubled past.” The documents related to the consultation are available here: https://gov.uk/government/consultations/addressing-the-legacy-of-northern-irelands-past and the consultation closes at 5pm on 10th September 2018.

This public and free event at Queen’s University Belfast is a victims-centred and victims organised event for groups and individuals to come along and learn more about the consultation, different people’s views on it and to inform attendees on how they might make a submission to the consultation. Any member of the audience is also invited to give their opinions and views as well to ask questions of the NIO representatives present. Invitations have been sent to the Chief Constable of the PSNI and the Commissioner for Victims and Survivors.

Tracey Coulter, whose father was murdered by the UVF;
Michael Monahan, whose father in law was murdered by Gary Heggarty/UVF
John Taggart, whose father was murdered by the British Army in Ballymurphy;
Arthur Rafferty, whose father was murdered by the IRA’s Fred Scappaticci.
Cat Wilkinson, Omagh Support & Self Help Group
Cathy Mcilvenny whose sister was murdered by the UDA.

There will be a light lunch from 12-12.30.
