At the Centre for Behaviour Analysis we offer a PhD by research with a focus on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA); 3 years full-time; 4-6 years part-time.
Available as distance learning/external student OR on-campus.
Applicants should be Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA).

We welcome all topics related to applied behaviour anaysis, including education, inclusion, disability, and autism.

This PhD programme aims to meet BACB requirements for BCBA-D (Option B ii), i.e., supervisors are BCBA-D. see https://bacb.com/bcba-d-requirements/
This research-based PhD with a focus on ABA can be taken
via distance learning, provided suitable arrangements for support are in place, and the necessary resources are available at the student’s location.
This means that students do not have to relocate to Belfast and conduct their research in their country of residence. Exact

In order to be eligible for PhD level study at QUB students should:
1. Have or expect to have a relevant first degree at 1st
class or 2.1 standard or a first degree 2:2 standard and a relevant Master’s degree, or equivalent for overseas degrees.

3. Meet English language requirements. Evidence of an IELTS score of 6.5 (taken within the last 2 years), with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
In order to be eligible for PhD with a focus on ABA students also must be Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or have completed a BACB Validated Course Sequence (VCS).
Oversees applicants must satisfy the UK Border Agency (UKBA)
immigration requirements for visa purposes, only if they intend to study on-campus.
Places are limited and the selection of successful candidates
will be based on academic record, comments by academic
referees, the quality of the research proposal (2000 words), and supervisor availability.

Application for ABA-based PhD is the same as for any PhD by research at QUB (School of Social Science, Education, and Social Work; SSESW), i.e., the programme structure and application process are the same, through online application under Postgraduate Reearch.
The difference is the topic and the supervisors, who are BCBA-D.
Make sure you apply for the PhD by research at School of Social Science, Education, and Social Work; SSESW,
and not the Professional Doctorate in Education, EdD.
